POETRY BY AARON SANDBERG

PEOPLE KEEP FINDING LATE LOVED ONES ON GOOGLE MAPS

after Rebecca Heilweil

Though most ghosts dissolve,

there you persist,

pristine—

blurred face wraith

on some Sunday night

shuffling to our curb

to take out the trash

to rot somewhere unseen,

candid in zeros and ones,

promising you’ll never die.

Aaron Sandberg is more of an Apple Maps kind of guy. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in No Contact, I-70 Review, Space and Time, West Trade Review, Asimov’s, The Offing, Sporklet, Right Hand Pointing, Monday Night, and elsewhere. A Pushcart-nominated teacher, you can see him—persisting, pristine—on Instagram @aarondsandberg.
